Rakhi or Raksha Bandhan is a big hindu festival which is symbol of loving bond between brother & sisters. This festival is celebrated with great joy & traditional way in the all over the world where Indians are living. As per the hindu calendar it is coming on Prumina of Sharavan month. "Raksha" word means Protection & "Bandhan" word means bond. So, this festival signifies the Bond of Protection. The protection that connotates - not just physical but spiritual as well.
Rakhi History:
Legends behind Raksha Bandhan is that once the Lord Indra was almost losing the long battle against the demos & Indra was feeling depressed. At that time India's wife - Sachi also came forward to help her husband. She took a thread, charged it mantras for pretection & tied on Indra's wrist. So, due to the thread strength, Indra conquered his enemies. Since then till today this festival is celebrated.
